I played a significant role in the acquisition of the English Department's first computer classroom andhave been a part of the perpetual process since of keeping it up to date. I was fortunate enough to be on a classrooms and facilities committee when the renovation of the building the room is in was discussed and so was instrumental in reconfiguring it as it is now. I also was able to garner for our department a usability lab Urban Life 302a and wireless writing lab UL 302, which has since become a documentary and short mov lab, the funding for which I oversaw through my role as Director of the Center for Instructional Innovation. Additionally, I was able to garner and equip Aderhold 423 as a lab and meeting space for the Critical Thinking through Writing Initiative and the WAC program. As a member of the Classrooms and Facilities Committee and the ad hoc Innovations in Learning Spaces Committee, I will play a part in the way all of GSU's classrooms look and work in the future. This role is important to me because I design online learning environments and I've come to see the classroom as an extension of that online interaction. As I continue to advise and encourage faculty to develop hybrid and flipped teaching methodologies, the way their classrooms are configured will be increasingly important.
